TRANSVAL-EU at the Vocational Education Research Conference 2022

From July 6-8, 2022, the 8th Austrian VET Research Conference 2022 took place in Klagenfurt, Austria, where the Austrian TRANSVAL-EU partners held a panel discussion titled:  the Validation of Transversal Competences – Empowerment and Employability. The panel had representatives from all project stages and consisted of the following project partners (in order of speaking): Sarah Rabl (OeAD), Julia Walder (OeAD), Corrina Zafaurek (AK Salzburg), Karin Gugitscher (öibf), Heidi Wagner (wba) and Monika Auzinger (3s).

First, the project partners gave an introduction to the conceptional dimension of TRANSVAL-EU as well as the current state of play with regards to validation on a European level and on a national level in the five field trial countries (AT, BE, IT, LT, PL). The panel discussion continued to provide insights on tools and methods for the validation of transversal skills that were collected as part of the project and have been consolidated into a database that is now available through the project website (https://www.transvalproject.eu/competences/). Furthermore, insights from the field trials in Austria, that have already kicked-off, were shared with the audience. Last but not least, the research methodology was introduced and potential roadblock were discussed.

The panel discussion was attended by approximately 40 participants such as VET experts and professionals, researchers, ministry representatives and social partners. In a lively and engaging discussion with the audience, experiences with regards to joint terminology of transversal competences, validation processes and research methodology were shared.
