Validation of transversal skills at VPL Biennale 2022
Last week on 19-20th May 2022, the 4th Validation of Prior Learning Biennale took place in Reykjavik, Iceland. The Education and Training Service Centre (ETSC) hosted the VPL Biennale and organized it together with CEDEFOP and the Nordic Network for Adult Learning (NVL), partner in TRANSVAL-EU. The question at the heart of the Biennale was how validation processes can become an integral part of policies and services to support lifelong learning which was discussed in inspiring key notes and workshops from different angles, the main themes being:
- validation and working life
- validation and education/training
- validation and social sustainability
- validation and personal development.
In the workshop on Validation and personal development, Dr. Maurice de Greef presented TRANSVAL-EU to the conference participants, putting the relevance of transversal skills in the spotlight, followed by engaged discussions. This was a wonderful opportunity to continue and deepen the conversation about the validation of transversal skills, why this is important and how it can be done.
